Certificate in Professional Coaching

The Certificate in Professional Coaching is accredited by the Open College Network (OCN) and delivered through the Advance School of Coaching. It builds on the concepts covered by the Award in Professional Coaching. Individuals may access the programme on successful completion of the Award. Alternatively those with experience of coaching or management may gain direct entry.
Who is it for?
This course is aimed at line and middle managers who wish to learn the theory and practice of coaching, and use a range of in-depth coaching techniques to get the best from their staff and promote a coaching culture within their organisation.
It has also been developed for independent consultants who wish to add performance coaching to their portfolio.

Course overview
This course will equip you with the skills you need to develop in personal coaching, and within organisations. It will provide you with cutting edge tools and techniques including Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) which takes coaching to a new level.
The Certificate in Professional Coaching takes on average 6 months to complete. It comprises three full day workshops at Glasgow Caledonian University, as well as a distance-learning component. This provides flexibility to organise your learning schedule around personal and work commitments. Comprehensive course materials covering the key modules, and ongoing tutor support are provided.

- Designing your own Personal Development Plan
- Values and beliefs, and the impact on behaviour
- Transactional Analysis and ego-states
- Skills and attributes of an effective coach
- Establishing a coaching culture within your organisation
- Learning styles and adapting the coaching approach
- Building relationships and establishing a partnership for coaching
- Identifying and dealing with limiting beliefs
- Role play and practical coaching sessions
How will the course be assessed?
- Completion of questions and answers on the course modules
- 20 hours coaching practice (10 hours direct coaching and 10 hours preparation, research and evaluation)
- An reflective case-study on a coaching client
The Open College Network (OCN) is the awarding body, which accredits the Certificate in Professional Coaching. On successful completion of the Certificate you can progress onto the Diploma programme.
